Well, well, well an opportunity to welcome two new and hopefully consistently interesting contributors 5+4=9 and packajos000, the intelligent back and forth of topic posts and their reposts is the very sustenance of our good worldly cause.

And so to tell some absolute truths as requested:

The Llangernyw Yew This incredible yew tree resides in a small churchyard of St. Dygain's Church in Llangernyw village, north Wales in Great Britain or Albion, as the land was referred to when the now about 4,000 years old tree was but a sapling. The Llangernyw Yew was planted sometime in the prehistoric Bronze Age and the ABSOLUTE TRUTH – it is still growing!





The Olive Tree of Vouves: This ancient olive tree is located on the Greek island of Crete and is one of seven olive trees in the Mediterranean believed to be at least 2,000 to 3,000 years old. While an exact age is hard to verify, the Olive Tree of Vouves might well be the oldest among the seven stalwarts, and is estimated at over 3,000 years old. ABSOLUTE TRUTH - It still produces olives, and they are highly prized specimens.




Therefore the great debate is that history is really a combination of absolute truths in the minds eye of observers at the time and hearsay, yet we learn so much from it. Or does the other school of thought prevail, it exists and is likely to carry on existing therefore it is an absolute truth - Jean-Paul Sartre had his moments then!

While the Welsh Yew tree analogy above is a prime example absolute truth, I would add is the evidence of existence and trusted observers, is this acceptable to a questioner, or is it a case of mine-own-eyes-witness as the only sure way to secure this acceptance? In other words, must you yourself have visited that same proffered location to verify the existence of an absolute truth prior to its acceptance? Indeed are there any mainstream media conduits that maintain your factual trust of absolute truths?

My next question is do you believe in pure coincidence or lean toward the ideology that fascinating linkages and juxtapositions are carefully prepared and launched in anticipation by a greater creative force into the psyche of appreciative thinking humans? Human kind, who in turn will grasp greater enlightenment from this magical common-denominated intertwinement of events, facts and ideas, and gain positive pleasure from interpretation, reminiscent of the attitude of our long lost ancestors perhaps.

As in a process that is equally as predetermined as the life-cycle of a butterfly i.e. egg on leaf, caterpillar, chrysalis followed by emergent adult butterfly. This too is an absolute visible truth.

An example of this linkage and juxtaposition: At exactly the same time as I was posting a response which included the Llangernyw Yew tree to your original ‘absolute truth’ topic, a much verified and triangulated story, factually that is, appeared in newspapers across Britain yesterday (28th January 2016).

In synopsis:

An 89 year-old pensioner, Roy Dowson, has been ordered by his local Council to cut back a so called 'dangerous' yew hedge in the village of Burton, Lincolnshire, which he has lovingly tended for 40 years, 'because of health and safety'.

Mr Dowson, has been ordered to trim his historic 328 foot (100 metre) long yew bush, which is 8 feet (2.44 metres) high because pedestrians have complained of insufficient room to walk along the pavement and therefore the council claim that Yew tree hedge puts people at 'unnecessary risk from passing traffic'. The pensioner has been given a month to cut the hedge in Burton down to 2 feet (0.61 metres). Looking at the picture it would make infinitely more sympathetic and practical sense to only cut back the overhang on the pedestrian facing side of the hedge, which purports to force passersby into the road. The Yew hedge was planted in 1880 and it would prove a traumatic loss to the old man, the latter is an absolute truth and the former is a documented truth, can they be one and the same?

Overall, I am mindful of an observation made by Frank Lloyd Wright, American architect, interior designer, writer, and educator. "Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you." -
